History

AACSB International is one of the most powerful and famous accredited institutions to evaluate business schools and certified MBA programs. Due to this, we fully support the business school initiates the plan of becoming AACSB-accredited and established AACSB office at the business school.

After the AACSB office proposal was approved in 2008, we started to plan and build the office. There is one director's office and two seats for project assistants and part-time workers to use. The office was accomplished in the end of 2008, and we continually purchased office supplies. On May 19, 2009, AACSB office held an opening ceremony. In addition to the staff at school, we also invited Prof. Chou at National Chengchi University to join the ribbon cutting ceremony and to give a speech.

Since AACSB office started, we have invited each department to recommend one instructor to become AACSB seed teachers in order to introduce the twenty-one AACSB accreditation standards to everyone. Additionally, we also reorganized the introduction of the business school and statements of programs to improve our mission and goals, and to develop strategies. Also, we visited other schools to learn and share their efforts to become certified by AACSB.

The school was approved as a member of AACSB in September 2009, and passed the pre-accreditation eligibility application in April 2011. Therefore, the school officially entered the Pre Accreditation stage in 2011. The AACSB Association immediately assigned a Mentor in 2012. The Mentor visited the school in January for the first time, and the COB submitted the Progress Report to the Pre-accreditation committee (PAC) review meeting in June 2012. After the Progress Report was approved, the second meeting with the Mentor was in July.

During the second visit, he mainly assisted in writing the Standards Alignment Plan (SAP). The COB submitted the index improvement plan in October to participate in the November Initial Accreditation Committee (IAC) review meeting and passed the review in December. The COB submitted its annual report (Progress Report, formerly known as Plan Implementation Report) in mid-September 2013, and was informed that COB can applied for the Initial Accreditation stage on November 19.

On January 7, 2014, our school submitted an application letter to enter the Initial Accreditation stage to the AACSB Association. On March 20, the AACSB Association appointed Gonzalo Garland (Chairman), the Vice President of the IE Business School in Madrid, Spain as the chairman for the evaluation team (Peer Review Team, referred to as PRT), and officially informed the visit time on June 4 and contact the other two reviewers (Prof. Ali Dastmalchian, former Dean of Business School, Victoria University, Canada, and Alice Guilhon, Dean of SKEMA Business School, France).

The COB submitted a Self-Evaluation Report to the AACSB Association at the end of July. The foreign visiting committee visited the COB from November 30, 2014 to December 3, 2014, and was officially awarded the AACSB International certification in February 2015, and has entered the maintenance stage.

The COB submitted a Continuous Improvement Review Application on July 1, 2017. On September 5, 2018, the AACSB Association appointed Geoff Perry, Vice-President of Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand, as the evaluation team (Peer Review Team, PRT for short), as well as the Dean of Purdue University Melissa L. Gruys Business School and the Dean of Seattle Pacific University Ross Stewart Business School, as two other PRT members. However, because the original chairman Perry was promoted to the executive vice president of AACSB Asia, on July 26, 2019, the chairman was replaced by the Dean of the Sandeep Krishnamurthy Business School, Bassal University, Washington, USA.

The Peer Review visit was orginally expected to be held from May 17 to May 19, 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the AACSB Association postponed the Peer Review Visit to November 17 to November 20, 2020. Furthermore, it changed evaluation method from on-site visit to a online visit. Nevertheless, the COB has successfully completed the online visit. In Feburary  2021, the COB has received an official announcement  that the COB passed the international accreditation of the AACSB International, and obtained the membership of the AACSB to maintain the accreditation.
